This fund will help to support livelihood for women & youth across our project regions through purchase of advanced sewing machines and skill training provisions in community. Literacy India is running Karigari project to provide vocational training on tailoring for women & girls for sustainable livelihood. Girls and women after completion of their training are capable of running home based entrepreneurship activities depending upon orders like peticoat, pyjama, salwar kameej, blouse making etc. These home based activities are very often halted as the trainees do not have their own sewing machines. These funds would help us to provide sewing machines to the identified trainees who have shown their potential in home based entrepreneurship & sustainable livelihood training. Training is provided for a period of 6 months for a batch of 20 women. The cost of training includes the following: Trainer’s honorarium – Rs. 2,000 Students kit & raw materials – Rs. 1,500 Sewing machine repair & maintenance – Rs. 600 Utilities for classrooms – Rs. 600 Stationary – Rs. 300 Cost of sewing machine – Rs. 3,200 Total Cost – Rs. 8,200 for 6 months per woman
